Speaker’s decision meant to cow and weaken our MPs—NPP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to suspend three of its members, arguing that the move was unfair and unconstitutional.
In a statement, the party criticized the Speaker for not granting the affected MPs a fair hearing before taking disciplinary action. The NPP views this decision as an attempt to intimidate the Minority in Parliament and weaken its ability to hold the government accountable.
According to the party, such actions undermine the principles of parliamentary democracy and set a dangerous precedent. As a result, the NPP has thrown its full support behind its MPs, demanding an immediate reversal of the suspensions.
“The Speaker’s decision is not only unfair but also unconstitutional. We stand firmly with our MPs and call for this unjust ruling to be overturned,” the statement read.
The development has further heightened tensions in Parliament, adding to the ongoing political disputes between the Majority and Minority caucuses.
