Sekondi: Akufo-Addo unveils statue of himself at Effia-Nkwanta Hospital
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has unveiled a statue of himself at the entrance of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, a tribute to his administration’s initiatives in the Western Region. This event formed part of his one-day “thank you” tour of the region, where he highlighted various development efforts and encouraged support for the ruling party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The statue was introduced as a symbol of the president’s impact, including projects such as the ongoing rehabilitation of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the construction of a three-tier Sinohydro interchange, and the redevelopment of Takoradi Market Circle. However, these projects are yet to be completed, with some facing delays.
During an address to Takoradi residents on Wednesday, November 6, President Akufo-Addo reflected on his tenure, asserting that he has delivered on 80% of his promises to the nation. He urged voters to back Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming election, emphasizing that his administration’s policies and projects would continue under Bawumia’s leadership.
The president also underscored the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as his most transformative legacy, noting its widespread impact across Ghana. “Free SHS is my most significant achievement,” he stated, pointing to the policy’s role in expanding educational access nationwide.
While his achievements have sparked debate, Akufo-Addo’s visit has spotlighted ongoing efforts in the Western Region and set the stage for continued discussions as Ghana heads into its 2024 election season.
