‘On God was so spiritual to me, I recorded it with angels in my room ‘- Shatta Wale
Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has made a remarkable revelation about the inspiration behind his hit song, On God, claiming the track was recorded in the presence of angels. Released in 2022, the song quickly became an anthem among fans, solidifying Shatta Wale’s standing in the music industry.
In an interview on Rants, Bants and Confessions, hosted by Efia Odo, Shatta Wale explained the circumstances that drove him to create On God. He shared that comparisons between himself and fellow Ghanaian artist Black Sherif sparked a determination to prove himself. “When Black Sherif came out, there was a whole lot of comparisons, but I am the type of person who can break your career with one song,” Shatta Wale revealed. Feeling challenged, he looked to a higher power for guidance and inspiration.
“I sat in my room, and when I was playing the song, angels were in my room. That’s what people don’t know,” Shatta Wale said, adding that the experience made On God deeply spiritual for him. He advised those comparing him to others not to “fight what you don’t know,” expressing confidence in his unique place in Ghanaian entertainment. “I am like the phoenix,” he declared.
Following On God, Shatta Wale recently released the SAFA album, featuring well-crafted dancehall and afrobeats tracks that are gaining popularity locally and internationally. The album includes collaborations like Blessings with Amerado, Ogya with Wendy Shay, and other hits like Accra. Shatta Wale’s latest project highlights his versatility and resilience as he continues to make waves in the music industry.
