Mahama accuses NPP of development allocation bias
National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly distributing development projects based on regional voting patterns. Speaking on his tour of the Oti Region on Monday, November 4, Mahama argued that the NPP’s approach neglects areas where it received less electoral support, resulting in regional inequalities that hinder national progress.
During his stop at Biakoye, Mahama pointed to what he described as clear signs of NPP’s focus on regions favorable to their electoral base. He cited the lack of a regional hospital in Krachi East as an example, attributing it to the region’s voting record in favor of the NDC. Mahama pledged that, if elected president, his administration would prioritize addressing these disparities and ensure balanced development across all regions.
Addressing a crowd in Dambai, Krachi East, Mahama expressed his commitment to revitalize the Oti Region, a promise that was warmly received by chiefs and community members who gathered to hear him speak. The Chief of Dambai, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, voiced the community’s needs, acknowledging Mahama’s previous contributions to educational and healthcare infrastructure in the region. However, he stressed the urgent need for a regional hospital, appealing for Mahama’s support if he wins the December polls.
In response, Mahama assured that the NDC is committed to fulfilling these demands, emphasizing that all regions deserve equitable infrastructure and development regardless of their political affiliations. This two-day tour in Oti comes as Mahama seeks to strengthen his support base in the region, highlighting his vision for fair distribution of resources and inclusive national development.
