John Mahama will win a free and fair election – Haruna Iddrisu boldly declares
Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu has confidently asserted that former President John Dramani Mahama would emerge victorious in any free and fair election in Ghana. Iddrisu, who previously served as the Minority Leader, emphasized the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s commitment to electoral transparency in the upcoming 2024 elections.
During a recent campaign engagement, Iddrisu stressed the party’s demand for full disclosure regarding the printing and distribution of ballot papers. “We are very convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that John Dramani Mahama will win a free, fair, credible election,” Iddrisu stated. “What we ask is simple: we need the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for each region, for each district, and for each constituency.”
He elaborated further, highlighting the party’s concerns about ballot security and the importance of tracking ballot paper distribution. “We want to know the quantity and the serial numbers for transparency. For the Northern Region, we want to know where our serial numbers start and end so that we can trace them to Ashanti and then to the Eastern Region,” Iddrisu explained.
Iddrisu also issued a warning, noting that if the NDC finds any ballot papers designated for one region showing up in another, the party will take it as an indication of electoral irregularities and expose any attempts at fraud. His remarks underscore the NDC’s focus on vigilance in the election process and a fair chance for Mahama in the upcoming polls.
