Ghanaian Actress Salma Mumin Faces Backlash Over Comments on East Legon Accident
Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Salma Mumin is facing widespread criticism on social media following her remarks on the recent East Legon accident. Appearing on UTV’s United Showbiz, Salma urged Ghanaians to avoid hypocrisy and accept the tragic nature of the incident.
The accident, which has generated significant attention, involved the son of Prophet Salifu Amoako. Salma defended him, saying, “Salifu Amoako’s son didn’t carry a gun to kill anyone. It was a tragic accident.” Her comments suggested that it was unfair to single him out or attribute blame beyond the fact that it was an unfortunate accident.
However, her remarks did not sit well with many Ghanaians, leading to a social media backlash. Some accused Salma of being under the influence of drugs, speculating that she had consumed “wee toffee,” a slang term for cannabis-infused candy. Others insinuated a personal connection between Salma and Prophet Salifu Amoako, suggesting this might be why she came to his son’s defense.
Comments poured in from social media users, with some being particularly harsh. User “Dechampioon” posted, “Salma, the wee toffee is not good for you,” while “James Ote” remarked, “Tell her that she is lucky her family members no dey inside.”
The incident has sparked discussions around celebrity influence and the potential fallout when public figures comment on sensitive issues. Salma has yet to respond publicly to the criticism.
