GFP settles of Roman Fada as Akua Donkor’s replacement in 2024 polls
Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, has officially been elected as the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) following the passing of the party’s former leader, Akua Donkor. GFP executives announced the decision today, expressing confidence in Roman Fada’s ability to lead the party in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Roman Fada, who previously served as Akua Donkor’s running mate, had declared his readiness to assume the role of flagbearer soon after her passing. Akua Donkor, a prominent and unique figure in Ghanaian politics, became ill on October 26, 2024, and was initially treated at the Nsawam Government Hospital before being transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. She passed away at 10:00 PM on October 28, 2024.
In response to Akua Donkor’s passing, the Electoral Commission directed the GFP to nominate a replacement for her position on the ballot and provided a 10-day deadline for the party to make the necessary arrangements.
Party executives have expressed their trust in Roman Fada’s leadership, seeing him as the ideal candidate to carry forward Akua Donkor’s vision and to represent the Ghana Freedom Party’s interests in the upcoming elections.
