Dr. Bawumia Highlights NPP Government’s Record in Job Creation, Cites 2.6 Million Jobs
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, has underscored the Akufo-Addo administration’s achievements in job creation, claiming the government has created more employment opportunities than any previous administration in Ghana’s Fourth Republic. Speaking at a youth engagement event in Accra on Sunday, November 3, Dr. Bawumia cited data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other sources, revealing that approximately 2.6 million jobs have been created since 2017, with 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.
“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years,” he said. “Between 2017 and 2024, the latest data shows that we have created 2.6 million jobs. This is the highest job creation of any government in the 4th Republic.”
Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the ongoing economic challenges but reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to addressing high unemployment, especially among the youth. He pledged to continue the government’s efforts to expand economic opportunities if elected in the upcoming December elections.
“Our youth still need jobs,” he noted, emphasizing that job creation remains central to his vision for Ghana’s future.
